E-Health Literacy Classes to Begin in February

  • January 26, 2015
  • General

CTN is excited to announce that we will be offering six e-health classes at five locations this Winter and Spring! Between February and April, we will be offering classes at Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center, Curry Senior Center, Aquatic Park Senior Center, Downtown Senior Center, and 30th Street Senior Center (where we will be offering one in English and one in Spanish).

Our e-health classes span four weeks and include a teacher-led demonstration followed by one-on-one tutoring so that students can receive individualized support and have their personal questions answered. Our curriculum includes the following topics:

Week 1: Using Medline Plus to find reliable health information
Week 2: Creating strong search terms to find health information online and analyze search results
Week 3: Evaluating the reliability of online health information resources
Week 4: Accessing personal healthcare provider websites

We are still looking for teachers or one-on-one tutors to help us with these classes. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a teacher or tutor, please email our Volunteer Coordinator Kat Kruse at kat@ctnbayarea.org.

If you or someone you know would like to attend one of these classes, please email us at volunteer@ctnbayarea.org or call (628) 200-3118.
