Community Tech Network (CTN) seeks contract instructors (up to 20 hours a week, pay rate $26 (DOE) per hour to provide basic iPad/tablet/laptop and internet skills training to adults in-person in Central Valley and virtually.

CTN is a nonprofit organization founded in 2008. We believe that access to the Internet is a human right and that those without the skills to use a computer are at risk of social and economic disadvantage. We provide digital skills training while helping our learners acquire home internet and a device. The heart of CTN is our instructors who train individuals and communities and help them live better lives by staying connected and having access to more information and opportunities.

As a Bilingual Digital Literacy Instructor, you will:

  • Make phone calls to establish contact with learners, assess their digital skills and needs and schedule instruction.
  • Deliver online and in-person digital literacy classes, one-on-one or in small groups.
  • Report your success and learner progress using multiple online forms.
  • Communicate regularly with managers, colleagues and partners about program challenges and issues.
  • Contribute your knowledge and experience to CTN colleagues’ ongoing professional development.
  • Adjust curriculum to address identified needs within a group of learners with cultural responsiveness.
  • Identify program delivery updates and adjustments for future learners.
  • Translate written materials as needed.
  • Communicate learner outcomes and challenges to partners and CTN colleagues.

To flourish in this role, you need:

  • Verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to work independently while communicating regularly with a remote supervisor.
  • Computer and internet proficiency and a willingness to learn new technology tools.
  • Proficiency with office productivity programs like Word, Excel, Google Docs and Sheets, web browsers, Google Mail and Calendar
  • A reliable broadband Internet connection.
  • Reliable transportation for work in the Central Valley.
  • Eligibility to work legally in the United States.
  • ability to work flexible hours in-person and virtually.

Community Tech Network (CTN) seeks contract instructors (up to 30 hours a week, pay rate $26 per hour, potentially turning into a part-time or full-time employment) to provide basic ipad/tablet/laptop and internet skills training to older adults in person and virtually in Sonoma County.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Deliver Digital Literacy Training
    • Provide digital literacy training to adults virtually and/or in-person at partner sites in Sonoma County and remotely in the SF Bay Area
    • Follow an established curriculum to provide 1-on-1 or group training to help adults develop skills to safely and confidently use technology
    • Adjust curriculum to address identified needs within a student cohort
    • Translate curriculum and documents from English to Spanish
  2. Community Outreach Support and Public Relations
    • Act as CTN representative and liaison within CTN learner communities
    • Survey community members to understand needs, interest and availability to participate in the program
    • Communicate class schedule and send reminders to assure participants attendance
  3. Service Delivery Coordination
    • Perform site visits at partner locations to ensure proper class set-ups
    • Configure devices based on set-up guidelines
    • Prepare training materials and documents for trainers and learners
    • Ensure compliance with project requirements
    • Address issues or escalate to Program Manager
  4. Data Management & Reporting
    • Ensure that all setup / follow-up and instruction hours are reported for each session
    • Complete and document online assessment of individuals to determine computer skills and training needs
    • Collect and report additional data about programs, services, and volunteers, as needed by CTN

To flourish in this role, you need:

  • verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish
  • teaching and communication skills
  • working knowledge of Google Suite (Calendar, Meets, Docs, Sheets, etc.) and other communication and collaboration tools (Zoom, Dropbox, etc.)
  • comfortable with learning new skills, tools and processes
  • experience operating various devices (desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, iPhones/iPads, Chromebooks, etc.)
  • a reliable broadband Internet connection
  • ability to work flexible hours
